In this week’s issue of Weekly News, we have, the news on Brexit; has it finally happened?, a story from around the world, and an update on new adventures! First, Brexit: Prime Minister Boris Johnson was working to ensure that the UK leaves a club of countries called the European Union on 31 October 2019. However, today, the 1st of February 2020, we have officially left the EU and will be entering an 11 month transition period to finally decide on a deal. During this period, everything will remain as normal, until we finally leave the EU with or without a deal. But why did this happen? Leo Varadkar and Boris Johnson decided what to do about the difficult land border between Northern Ireland and Ireland. They decided to shift the border between Northern Ireland and the United Kingdom. This idea was not popular in Northern Ireland, however it is supported by a strong Conservative majority (a political party). Therefore, After the previously mentioned transition period, the UK will be out of the EU (not literally).
Next, an update on adventures! Ted and Ellie have recently visited Thailand, however as they have been there before they did not do a lot of exploring and had a mainly relaxing beach holiday. The team are drafting a Thailand revisit Post, so if it edited correctly it will be posted on the site very soon. The menus for TFRC still must be updated, but there is also a new Art Post available.
Finally, a story from around the world: The Earth Sandwich! A man in New Zealand has made and Earth Sandwich with someone he met online. A piece of bread was put down in Auckland, New Zealand, and another in Spain in the precise location and at the exact same time. They were on opposite sides of the planet, meaning the Earth was the sandwich filling
