This week me (Jack) will tell you all about my boating adventure! Me and my family drove down to Wales on a Friday night after school. Me and my best friend spoke over the phone for the duration of the trip. I also prank called Ellie, and it was absolutely hilarious, but the fun didn’t last long, because a completely furious Ellie soon realised who had been calling her! It took me and my family over 3 hours to get there and when we did it was amazing! We had rented a lovely, peaceful cottage and the owner left us cookies, hot chocolate, tea, wine and crisps! The beds were soft and comfortable and the shampoo and body wash she provided us was coincidentally by a brand named Jack! The next day we went to our family’s narrow boat. The history of the narrow boat is intertwined with the history of the canal system. Narrow boats were originally built as working boats in the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries for carrying goods on the narrow canals, so it is not just an ordinary boat! (I learnt all that from Ellie, who lectured me about the importance of the boat for at least an hour before we left school.) It has 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, a kitchen and a sitting room. We did some cruising, visited lots of exciting lochs and saw beautiful scenery before visiting my grandparents and going home. Some of my favourite parts were walking through creepy tunnels, climbing up trees and clambering up a really high wall! I have had a wonderful holiday so far and I can’t wait to see Ted and Ellie to tell them about it.
Have a great holiday too!
