We will be starting a new series of posts on the HONK Page about global warming. This is a very severe problem that people have failed to even notice in the past, and now it is almost too late. This is how global warming impacts the arctic, and how you can help. Greenhouse gases released from industries, vehicles and factories is a significant factor contributing to global warming, which in turn is causing the ice in Antarctica and the Arctic to melt. This is destroying the Arctic’s ecosystem and the habitat of many animals living there, who depend on the cold and ice to survive in the environment. Some species becoming extinct will cause animals higher up the food chain to die as well, causing many more species population to be lowered. This rise in global temperatures will also cause some small islands and parts of countries to flood, as the sea level rises. Also, many animals have adapted their diet and lifestyle to survive in the harsh climate, however they will not be able to adapt in time to the rapidly rising sea level and lack of ice there. This is happening very quickly so action has to be taken soon.
Raising awareness in itself is already a great way to help the environment. Just by informing people of the problem, more people will be inspired to make a difference. As many people start trying to help as possible, the faster this problem can be solved. Also, limiting travelling in cars and planes will limit pollution which contributes to this. Certain products are manufactured in industried where a lot of pollution is produced, so try to limit your use of these. Researching other ways to sort this issue is also a good idea, as there may be some things that are not included in this list, but could still be beneficial.
Thanks for listening!
