Here are some environmental issues that are having the most impact on the world around us. Have you heard of any before?
Plastic Pollution
Despite plastic being an easy and efficient material to use, produce, and dispose of, it is not biodegradable (able to break down and dissolve in nature). Instead, it breaks down into small chunks, then is thrown into landfill, ends up in the ocean, or is just tossed to the side of the road. Animals can eat these toxic plastic particles, or even eat a whole plastic bag, as well as getting caught in plastic netting and bags. This can be extremely harmful to them, so try to use less plastic to help these poor animals.
Global Warming
Global Warming is a massive problem. Due to certain gases that come from factories, cars, cows farts (no kidding) and more, called greenhouse gases, the Earth and the Environment is slowly warning up. This is a problem for many species, such as polar bears, whose icy homes are melting into the sea, and can also be a problem for humans. The sea level is rising because of the melting ice, which also erodes rock and floods islands, meaning that lots of homes are destroyed. More hazardous and violent storms are caused by this, too, which is a problem for people and animals.
Deforestation
People need wood to make into furniture, paper, and tools. However, they need to cut down trees to do this. The trees in the rainforest are being called at an alarming rate, destroying many of the homes and furrows of all the exotic and endangered plants and animals there. Also, trees give clean oxygen into the air, and absorb carbon dioxide – they let us breathe! Otherwise, air pollution levels will grow higher, too.
