Sewing is one of Ellie’s favourite crafts, because it allows you to be creative and you can make some really cute designs, and is it also a very useful skill to learn. You can use basic stitches, or more complicated ones if you are more advanced. First, here is how to make an adorable decorative pouch! Choose your favourite colour of thin material, which is easier, or felt is also an option, to make your pouch. You will also need some colourful buttons, sharp scissors, a needle and some thread. Also you can you a sewing machine instead, but it may be less satisfying. Start by cutting a rectangle out of your material. Remember that your rectangle muss be slightly bigger than double the size of your finished result. Now, you need to make a hem. First, fold over the top edges to the inside. Secure this with sewing pins, before starting to sew. You can use a running stitch. Now, fold the rectangle in half and start sewing the edges of your pouch with a small, basic running stitch (or something similar). Then, twist your pouch inside out to neaten the edges. Finally, start sewing on your decorative felt any way you want. You can cut shapes out of the felt or attach buttons by using a cross stitch. If you followed the instructions carefully, you will now have successfully made your own decorative pouch!
Next, here is how to make an amazing photo frame! You will need: thin cardboard, thread and a needle, some colourful felt or thicker material, scissors, decorative flowers or buttons, stuffing, glue, and some ribbon. First, cut a square piece of card board slightly bigger than your chosen photo. Then, cut out two larger squares out of your favourite colour of felt and cut a square shaped hole through the centre of each one the same size as the photo. Next, start sowing the outside edge of the felt pieces. Once you are done, start sowing the inside edges apart from one, which will be where you put the stuffing in. Make sure the stuffing is evenly spread before sowing the last edge. Now glue the cardboard to the back to cover the hole and securely attach ribbon to the corners of the cardboard from the front side, so you can make sure the photo stays in place. Finally, decorate with the buttons or felt flowers to make it extra special, and then you are done!
